1.7.13 November 2026

Changed

  • The app spells its name murmrrr again, like murmrrr.com: window titles, the tray or menu bar, notifications, and the welcome, settings and licence windows.
1.7.03 November 2026

Added

  • A new look: murmrrr's heartbeat logo on its icon, in the tray or menu bar, and in its windows. The line takes your app colour.
  • Mute sounds while dictating: music, videos and notifications go quiet while you hold the hotkey or talk hands-free, then come back exactly as they were. On by default, on the General tab.
  • Licence keys, for when murmrrr goes on sale at murmrrr.com. Enter the key once, online, and murmrrr works offline from then on. Until then nothing changes: a copy set up before murmrrr goes on sale stays free for good.
  • Release your licence from this computer on the About tab, to move it to a new one.

Changed

  • Lists: "one, two, three", "new item", "next point" and "item one" make lists too, and counting out loud mid-sentence stays a sentence.
1.6.23 November 2026

Changed

  • The new heartbeat logo on the app icon, the installer and the settings and welcome windows.

Fixed

  • Mac: Control+Option works again after an update. If macOS asks when murmrrr starts, turn murmrrr on under System Settings > Privacy & Security > Device Control and Data Access (Accessibility on older macOS) and the hotkey works straight away.
1.6.12 November 2026

Added

  • A Close murmrrr button on the General tab and in the tray menu. It stops the app completely, bar included.
  • An Uninstall murmrrr button on the About tab. It asks first, then removes the app, the speech model, your settings, your history and the logs.
  • When there's a new version, murmrrr tells you what it fixes and adds, and asks before downloading it. On a Mac, the button opens the download page.
  • Emojis (experimental), off by default. Now and then, when you say something with real energy, murmrrr adds an emoji that matches it. It works this out on your computer from how you sound compared with your own normal.

Changed

  • A new name: murmrrr. Your settings, history and speech model move across by themselves the first time this version starts.
  • Uninstalling from Settings > Apps now also removes your settings, history and logs.
  • The Download page button on the About tab now goes to murmrrr.com/download.

Fixed

  • If a microphone you chose has gone, murmrrr now uses your default one instead of stopping.
1.6.02 November 2026

Added

  • A new bar: four ribbons of glass that move with your voice.
  • Drag the bar to any of eight spots on any screen. F8 moves it to your next screen, and you can pick a different key.
  • An Appearance tab with bar size, bar colour, app colour and a reset button.
  • If there's nowhere to type, the bar offers a copy box instead, with an X and a 5 second timer.
  • Stop talking for a moment and the sentence gets its full stop.

Changed

  • The bar rises above a taskbar or Dock that hides itself.
  • Lists turn up a little more often.

Fixed

  • Key clicks with no words no longer type "Thank you."
  • Words Whisper makes up from sounds that aren't speech are dropped.
1.5.21 November 2026

Fixed

  • An email's sign-off is only ever what you actually said. Windows only.
1.5.11 November 2026

Changed

  • Dictated emails are laid out with a greeting, paragraphs and a sign-off on its own lines.
1.5.01 November 2026

Added

  • Quotation marks. Say "he said, I'll be there" and the quote marks go in.
  • Emails get laid out when you start with a greeting.
  • A copy panel for when there's no text box to type into.

Changed

  • Lists are spotted more often.

Added

  • First release. Hold Ctrl+Win, talk, let go. These first versions (1.0.0 to 1.0.3) sent your audio to a cloud service to be turned into text. That stopped in 1.1.0.
